ABOUT SMELT

SMELT is a festival where no sound is sacred

SMELT is a two-day indoor music festival where no sound is sacred. Your favorite melting pot, where anything can happen; we’ve taken our audience to a ghettotech party in Detroit presented by HiTech, the brink of chaos together with LustSickPuppy and HUMMERDRENG, and ended up on an ethereal plane, listening to Anastasia Coope’s sweet, longing songs.

Situated in the Vestegnen area close to Copenhagen. SMELT is a musical experience inspired by its surroundings and rich music culture. A rich music culture is present in this area; for instance, a strong rap scene that has been growing for years, an anatolian music community, a metal festival, and the two venues Forbrændingen and RAV, leading the way as two flagship pillars of contemporary music.

Other than being a multifaceted festival, SMELT aims to be a platform for emerging artistic talent to experiment with the arts. We want to offer a space where it is possible to learn how to curate and create a musical and cultural experience. With music as our anchor, we want to inspire, enrich and make room for unique, trailblazing artistic output and community.

No sound is sacred, genres melt together and enrich one another. But somehow there is an energy and ethos binding all these different sounds and cultures. An energy you can experience at SMELT, your favorite melting pot.

SMELT is curated by Forbrænding & RAV in an unique collaboration between the two venues. The festival is made possible with support for Koda Kultur, Brøndby Kommune, Albertslund Kommune and Statens Kunstfund.
